A new hope, a new beginning and a new spirit. Today 14th February 2010 all Chinese over the world celebrating their New Year 2010 (more info here). The celebration starts yesterday 13th February 2010. So their people at The Hague…
This year the celebration was even bigger than last year celebration. This might because of the new opening of the two gates recently. There are three kind of street performance. The Lion Dance, the Dragon Dance, and another performance held by two persons walking on long wooden stick, wearing traditional chinese mask and clothes. To my observation the enthusiasm of people are bigger this year.
These are images taken during the celebration on the streets at the Chinese District (see our article Entering the Year of the Tiger).

A stunning photo essay with the colour red as the main thread in the story. It is fantastic to see how the oriental culture is being celebrated abroad and the photo presentation here is a wonderful capture of this. Nice work, by both of you, Jos and Ambarum! Chapeau!

Many thanks for your visit and extensively comment on our images. It is also difficult to work on raw situations so a well composed image can be made. For us it is interesting that the enthusiasm of the european – dutch are big for such events. Seem everybody were exciting at that moment. In our country such events are showed only recently since our previous President Abdurahman Wahid or Gus Dur that push to be more tolerant against other culture and not to suppress other culture to take the name or culture of the majority….

if I have to choose best pics from this event, I’ll choose 3 picts (counting from above) number 13th, 20th, and 28th.
For the two of you.. great job! I know it’s so dificult to take pics in the crowd and on moving objects! u’ve done it so well!! barvo! ^o^)9
